"Winter Wonderland 2018"

Ocean Ranch's 2018 Winter Wonderland celebration was held Sunday afternoon, February 25th at The Community Park Complex. The weather could not have been more ideal: cool enough to help preserve the snow yet gloriously sunny. The event was very well attended with over 200 participants during the early afternoon event. There were about twenty tons of snow spread around the Park Complex including side-by-side sledding runs. One of the young boys even rode a sled down the runs, snowboard style. A good sized snowman was constructed and numerous snowballs were playfully tossed as kids tried to "nail" their dads.

The event was presented by Ocean Ranch's Board of Directors and sponsored by Lori McGuire's Team of RE/MAX Realtors. Ms. McGuirealways does an excellent job sponsoring these Ocean Ranch events and this celebration was no exception. As part of a fundraising project, the McGuire Team had arranged for Doggie Bonez, a non-profit pet rescue organization in San Juan Capistrano, to bring several dogs that were available for adoption. There was also a pet parade for the kids. Not only were funds raised for this worthy organization but most of the dogs they brought for adoption were adopted by Winter Wonderland attendees!

Hot chocolate, popcorn, and an "endless" taco bar were all provided as well as margaritas for the adults.

Winter Wonderland was a great success and the Board expresses sincere appreciation to Lori McGuire and her team of RE/MAX Realtors.

We had a terrific time at the 2016 Ocean Ranch Adult Mixer - a great night, catering by Fratello's, and an ample supply of adult beverages!

Ocean Ranch Social Mixer May 2014

We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening for the Ocean Ranch Social and Mixer.  It was a pleasantly warm and crystal clear night, one that Jimmy Buffet might wish for in his Caribbean Paradise.  We certainly thought of Jimmy as we listened to local entertainer Chris Cram, who has been dubbed “The Human Jukebox”.  Chris played many of the Jimmy Buffet songs in support of the Margaritaville theme of the event.

The Board would like to thank Lori Koppel for her support of this event.  Not only did Lori provide for the entertainment, she hosted the frozen margarita machine, which was a big hit – definitely a Home Run!  In addition she provided some very unique beach chairs with built in beverage insulators as raffle prizes and party favor bags.

Although the pre-event RSVP’s were rather light, the turnout for the actual event was excellent.  Attendees brought appetizer dishes that ranged from shrimp to vegetable trays to chocolate covered pretzels.  Well, maybe the chocolate covered pretzels wouldn’t be considered an appetizer, but in Margaritaville, the line between appetizer and dessert can be a bit vague!

It was great to get to know new Ocean Ranch residents, as well as visiting with old friends.  Some people took to the dance floor and others joined in with Chris Cram to exercise their vocal talents.  We tried to capture everyone in our pictures; however, there were quite a few individuals who managed to slip by our lens.  But from the sampling above it is obvious that we have a lot of Beautiful People in Ocean Ranch.

In summary, the Board would like to thank our Social Committee for organizing this event and working with our sponsor to make this event a success.

Ocean Ranch Social Committee Halloween Event Brings Out Community Spirits

By Janice Wolf

Ocean Ranch Halloween

The Ocean Ranch Social Committee headed by Sloan Purcell and Kelly Korbonski, and with the assistance of Board Member Greg Eansor, put on a stellar Halloween Mischief Night on Sunday October 27, at the Community Pool.   The community came out decked in their costumes for a great night of food and festivities.

All who attended this Social Committee event, the first of many more to come, had a great time.  The event provided something for everyone, there was plenty to entertain, and the contests provided an additional bit of suspense and drama to the evening.

Nothing could remind us of the reason we volunteer more than seeing the children in their adorable costumes, each one a precious example of why we do what we do. The Social Committee is a refreshing addition to our community, bringing neighbors together for pure fun and entertainment.  The food was memorable thanks to some delicious Chili Contestant Entries, and there was pizza, cupcakes, and much to sink your teeth into.  For the adults there was wine taste thanks to Salt Creek, and some fancy spirits from Sazerac, and thanks to sponsors The McGuire Team, Cooper-Saia Real Estate Group and everyone who helped make this event a special one.

Please keep an eye out for future invitations to the Ocean Ranch Social Committee’s events.  The amount of effort it takes to pull together such an event is no easy task, so thanks to the courage and perseverance of the talented Social Committee Members for bringing the community together for a spirited good time!  The community is fortunate to have this vital ingredient for every resident in Ocean Ranch to enjoy!  Great job, well done!  Happy Halloween to all!
