Course Description
Enables the student to demonstrate the mastery of the learning objectives in the Webmaster, Web Designer, or E-Commerce Specialist programs. Guides the student through the process of developing a portfolio. Focuses on demonstration of the knowledge, skills, and techniques required to plan, develop, and implement a web site. To be taken in the final semester of the program.
Course Objectives
Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- Plan and implement an e-commerce web site using the learning
objectives presented in the certificate program from
inception to maintenance.
- Differentiate between business-to-business and business-to-
customer transactions.
- Assess the advantages of site hosting vs. outsourcing and
describe the effect of controlling one's Internet site,
in-house.
- Utilize hardware and bandwidth considerations in determining
the construction of an e-commerce site.
- Define Electronic Data Interchange (EDI) and how it relates to
the hosting of an e-commerce site.
- Demonstrate the use of catalogs and shopping carts in the
construction of an e-commerce site and payment processing
systems and tolls (e-cash, smart cards, credit cards and
check-based systems).
- Identify security issues such as cryptography, digital
certificates and Secure Electronic Transactions (SET).
